The choir started out as the church choir of the parish of Lechaschau, and was led first by the head of the local primary school, Rupert Lang, and then by Manfred Reisigl as musical director. Christian Pichler has been shaping the musical fortunes of the community as its choir leader since 1994. The Viva la Musica Lechaschau association was founded around the turn of the millennium. The choir has been open to both sacred and secular music ever since. It regularly provides the musical backdrop to masses in the church, while the choir also performs at a range of other events.
