The Várpalotai Bányász Kórus is 104 years old and was founded in 1920 as the singing society of craftsmen. This male choir continued as a mixed choir after the Second World War. Its repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions, and includes a variety of secular, sacred and folk works. The choir also enjoys performing at festivals and in joint performances of larger works such as “Carmina Burana”, “Cavalleria Rusticana” or “Orpheus and Eurydice”. Thus far, the choir has performed in 10 European countries, including several times in Carinthia.
